Motherhood is a beautiful journey, but it can also bring emotional ups and downs. A mother’s mental well-being is just as important as her physical health — before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and long after the baby arrives.
You deserve care, understanding and support at every stage.
Before pregnancy
Mental health starts before pregnancy. Even before conceiving, many women experience anxiety about becoming a parent, stress or emotional overwhelm, past trauma or grief resurfacing, and fear of the unknown. These feelings are common, and they matter — addressing them early can make the path ahead feel steadier.
During pregnancy
It’s okay to have mixed emotions. Pregnancy can bring mood changes, anxiety about the baby’s health, a sense of being overwhelmed, and difficulty sleeping or relaxing. None of this means something is wrong with you — it means you’re human, and support is available.
After childbirth
A mother’s well-being matters too, long after delivery. In the weeks and months after childbirth, some mothers experience constant sadness, frequent crying, irritability, anxiety, a sense of disconnection from their baby, or feeling hopeless and emotionally exhausted. These experiences deserve attention and care, not silence.
Why seek counselling?
Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Counselling can help a mother:
- Understand her emotions
- Build healthy coping strategies
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Strengthen her confidence as a mother
- Feel heard, without judgment
Asking for help is one of the most caring things you can do — for yourself, and for your baby.
You don’t have to go through it alone. Reach out. You are not alone.
It’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to ask for help.
